Who we are

The Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance for the Issues of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan (the Korean Council) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to achieving an equitable and just resolution of the issue and prevention of wartime sexual violence.

From the perspective of peace and women’s rights, We will take the lead in solving·remembering the Japanese military sexual slavery issue, violation of women’s rights, and sexual exploitation.

Actions for Resolving Japanese Military Sexual Slavery

  • Addressing the legacy of Japanese military sexual slavery following Kim Hak-Soon’s testimony on August 14, 1991
  • Advocating for the restoration of dignity and human rights, aiming for a peaceful world
  • Educating future generations about the history of Japanese military sexual slavery
  • Honoring victims and ensuring their dignity and rights are upheld
  • Preventing wartime sexual violence and conflict-related sexual exploitation
  • Pursuing a just resolution, including acknowledgment of war crimes, issuing formal/ public apology, providing legal reparations, conducting truth-seeking investigations, educating about the issue, and ensuring legal accountability for perpetrators.
