[Pan Citizen March] April Report

๐Ÿฆ‹ April 5 - Gwanghwamun

Seoul, April 5 — In a powerful display of unity and determination, citizens gathered for the 18th Pan Citizen March, celebrating victory in the ongoing struggle for democratic reform and justice in South Korea. The rally marked a symbolic moment of triumph for the pro-democracy movement, echoing the energy of past uprisings. The crowd erupted in celebration at the reaffirmation of the president's removal by a decisive 8–0 Constitutional Court ruling—a verdict many saw as inevitable, yet hard-won.

Despite the harsh weather, the atmosphere was resolute. Rain-soaked streets did not deter the marchers; not one person left their post. “The more difficult it got, the stronger our bond became,” another demonstrator remarked. “That’s the spirit that carried us here.”

Calls rang out not only for the punishment of those accused of insurrection but also for broader systemic reform—protection of marginalized communities, and legislation that honors historical justice. Among the next steps advocated by participants is the revision of the legislation concerning victims of the Japanese military sexual slavery. We must push for the amendment of the law protecting victims. And we will not stop until the Japanese government offers an official apology.

Seoul, April 19 — Despite heavy rain and thunder, the Korean Council stood in solidarity with citizens at the "Pan Citizen March for the End of Rebellion and Social Reform", raising their voices for the re-arrest of President Yoon Suk-yeol and the complete eradication of anti-democratic forces.

Braving the stormy weather, participants danced, chanted, and marched undeterred, united against those inciting hate and division. The day’s action underscored a shared commitment to peace and solidarity, even in adversity.

We reaffirmed our unwavering stance: the struggle will continue until all remnants of the insurrectionist forces are completely dismantled.
