On the night of December 3, Yoon Suk-Yeol declared emergency martial law, pointed a gun at the entire country, and ordered armed troops to take over the National Assembly, a grave constitutional crime and outright insurrection. Yoon Suk-Yeol is the mastermind of the insurrection.
Last week, one million citizens gathered at the National Assembly and shouted, "Impeach Yoon Suk-Yeol, the leader of the insurrection." Yoon Suk-Yoel is no longer the people's president. However, even a week later, he is still in the president's office. Yoon Suk-Yeol and his accomplices must be arrested, investigated, and punished immediately to restore democracy and realize people's sovereignty.
Civil society organizations, labor unions, and others gathered at Hyangryn Church on the 11th at 10 a.m. to impeach Yoon and reform Korean society afterward. Lee Na-Young, the chairperson of the Korean Council, was elected as the interim chairperson of the 'Immediate Resignation of Yoon Suk-Yeol, Emergency Action for Major Social Reform (in short, Emergency Action)' on behalf of the Civil Solidarity for Historical Justice and Peaceful Relationship between Korea and Japan, and held a press conference to inaugurate the Emergency Action.
Currently, 1,549 labor unions and civil society organizations are participating in the Emergency Action, and the number will continue to grow. Starting with today's press conference, we will continue vigorously for Yoon's resignation. We have determined not only to resignment but also to discuss fundamental changes in Korean society.
