[Appreciation Gala] "Voice of Courage, Becoming a Riptide" 34th Anniversary of the Korean Council!

On November 15, the 34th-anniversary appreciation gala of the Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance for the Issues of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan was held.

Around 150 people attended the gala. The Korean Council welcomed all participants who supported 2024 activities. The Korean Council activists prepared a nice dinner and various performances. The activists danced and sang to share the movement's gratitude and passion.

Many civil society organizations and members of the national assembly, including victim-survivors and senior activists, sent solidarity messages for the celebration. All participants and activists were overwhelmed by the strong will of solidarity expressed through the video messages.

The appreciation gala's highlight is the "Nabi Awards," which honor those who have worked especially hard to bring about a just resolution to the issue of Japanese military sexual slavery. The 2024 Kim Bok-dong Peace and Human Rights Awards were given to Baek Hui-sun, Woo Jun-ha, and Choi Hui-ju. The Kim Hak-sun Awards went to the Civil Solidarity for Historical Justice and Peaceful Relationship between Korea and Japan. The Kang Duk-kyung Award went to Lee In-hye, and the Butterfly Dream Award to Kim Ju-an. The Korean Council sincerely congratulates you and thanks you for your most passionate activities!

Not only the awards but also more people are passionately dedicated to the activity this year. The Korean Council expressed gratitude to Jang Sang-ook, the CEO of Hue Management, who is in charge of the sound system for all of the activities, including the Wednesday Demonstration. Also, there was a special guest from far away, Rosamaria Caiazza. She was dedicated to establishing the first Statue of Peace in Italy and flew from Italy to participate in the appreciation gala. The event was also prepared by supporters who volunteered. Many gifts were donated, and "Chal-kak," the university photo club, also joined to take photos during the event.

At the end, all activists and participants danced "We Will Go." It was a day full of support for the Korean Council to get through this challenging time together. Even if some attendees couldn't be there on the day, many supporters donated through their hearts.

The Korean Council will work harder in 2025, and we expect you to be right there with us on this journey. Thank you.
