Halmoni news (visiting halmonies Jan-Apr)

Halmoni, who lives in Seoul, told stories about her life. By listening to her story, we could feel her hard work throughout her life. Halmoni in Gyeonggi-do enjoys socialising with local friends and enjoying soccer matches these days. Whenever we visit her, she cares for us by saying, “You should travel around the world. Do whatever you want.” The Korean Council members and halmoni in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, ate lunch together at the restaurant. Since it is difficult for her to go outside, the Korean Council members drive her to shop and explore outside. Halmoni in Gyeongsangnam-do warmly welcomed the activists. When a daycare worker sang a children’s chant, halmoni joined the singing and clapped her hands.

Saying goodbye after such joyful meetings is always difficult. Halmonis seems to feel the same, waving their hands until we are out of sight. I hope Halmonis stays healthy and continues to have more cherished memories with us.
