Obstruction by the Japanese Government to Remove the Statue of Peace
Italy’s first Peace Statue was installed on June 22nd on the island of Sarinia, in Stintino City.
However…
Since May, the Japanese Embassy in Italy has been actively obstructing establishing and preserving the Statue of Peace in Stintino. They have submitted opposition opinions and visited Stintino City Hall to request a postponement of the unveiling ceremony and changes to the inscription.
Extreme rights-wing Japanese groups, such as Nadesiko-Action, are also pressuring Mayor Vallebella and the City Council to express their “opinions.”

Mayor Vallebella emphasized that the Statue of Peace represents a universal issue of women’s right, not a matter aimed at Japan.
