On October 5, the Korean Council, as a member of the Urgent Action by South Korean Civil Society in Solidarity with Palestine, participated in the "We Gather in Solidarity for the Liberation of Palestine" National Day of Action Against Israel for 365 Days of Genocide in Gaza. One year after the genocide in Gaza, concerned citizens from all over the country gathered at the Boshin Gak to condemn Israel's war crimes and criticize governments around the world, especially the U.S. and South Korean governments, for their complicity.
Since October 7, 2023, indiscriminate Israeli airstrikes have destroyed 60% of Palestine residences and 80% of commercial facilities, and only 17 out of 36 hospitals are partially operational. However, the suffering of the Palestinian people did not begin solely on October 7, 2023. Due to Israel's long history of forcible occupation and colonization of Palestine, Palestinians share similar suffering to the people of the Korean Peninsula, who were once colonized by the Japanese Empire.
We oppose all wars and wartime sexual violence and will continue to stand in solidarity and war for the true liberation of Palestine.
