Chairperson Lee Na-young stated today (September 6, 2024), "We are submitting an application for property disclosure, as stipulated by the Civil Execution Act, to the Seoul Central District Court." This is part of the legal process to receive compensation for Japan's crimes against humanity, including forced labor and the Japanese military’s “comfort women.” The court was requested to specify Japan's domestic assets prior to forced execution. She also mentioned the victories won by the victims of the Japanese military sexual slavery in court cases in 2021 and 2023, emphasizing, "We will assert our rights with dignity against the Japanese government's evasion of responsibility, ignoring the victory won by the victims after 30 years of legal movements."
Additionally, the Korean Council activists participated in a one-person protest at Hongdae Station, calling for a ceassation of efforts to promote a Korea-Japan military alliance.
In the evening, a protest titled “Resign Yoon Suk-yeol for Pro-Japanese Humiliating Diplomacy! Denounce Kishida for Distorting History and Claiming Sovereignty over Dokdo!” was held. The protest strongly condemned Prime Minister Kishida for any apology for his government’s outrageous acts, such as the distortion of war crimes and sovereignty claims over Dokdo. Participants also demanded the resignation of President Yoon Suk-yeol for continuing his submissive and pro-Japanese stance, along with his push for a Korea-Japan military alliance.
