On 22 March, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology Japan announced the results of the inspection of middle school textbooks. These textbooks state that both national and individual claims regarding Japan by Korea were already resolved, and they assert that Japan bears no responsibility for any reparation issues related to forced labour. Additionally, they inscribe that Dokdo is Japanese territory.

Recently, the Japanese government has prohibited the use of terms such as ‘forced labour,’ and ‘forced mobilisation.’ It also enforced restrictions preventing any mention of the military’s involvement in the ‘comfort women’ issue. The Korean Council participated in a press conference condemning this action, demanding that the Japanese government reject textbooks that distort history, glorify war and colonial rue, and correct historical distortions as soon as possible.
