Press Conference "NHRCK should judge based on <Human Rights>", calling for the submission of the CAT independt report without regression and delivering cvil society official letter to NHRCK

On May 16, the Korean Civil Society for the 6th UN Convention Against Torture (CAT) review, including the Korean Council, held a press conference in front of the National Human Rights Committee of the Republic of Korea (NHRCK). The participants demanded the adoption of the NHRCK's independent report without shrinking the original draft in advance committee of the whole, which will be held on May 20, regarding the adoption of the independent report.

The participants named all the committee members of the NHRCK, and pointed out the unacceptable behavior against human rights of Kim Yon-won and Lee Chung-sang, as well as other members who were silent or upholding them.

After the press conference, the participants delivered a official letter to the NHRCK, demanding that the committees should make judgments based on human rights, not subjective oppinions.
