On April 22, 2026, the Korean Council invited its donor members (supporters) to a free screening of the film "1980 Sabuk" at CGV Yeonnam.

The film is a documentary about the April 1980 uprising of miners in Sabuk, Jeongseon County, Gangwon Province, who rose in anger against poor working conditions and a company-controlled union. Together with around 40 donor members, the Korean Council listened to testimonies from those connected to the Sabuk Uprising and took time to reflect on the wounds of Sabuk that remain unresolved.

We hope this screening served as an opportunity to remember the Sabuk Uprising once again and to think together about the truth and responsibility that have yet to be fully addressed. The Korean Council will continue to create spaces like this to carry forward the memory of history. We sincerely thank all donor members who joined us for the screening.
