On Saturday, March 1, the Solidarity for Korean Unification and the Civil Solidarity for Historical Justice and Peaceful Relationship between Korea and Japan gathered in front of Exit 4 of Gyeongbokgung Station to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the March 1st Movement. The Korean Council, representing both NGO coalitions, actively participated in the rally.

The rally's primary aim was to condemn what the organizers described as the unconstitutional and illegal state of emergency declared by President Yoon Suk-yeol, who has consistently promoted pro-Japanese history and warmongering throughout his administration. The event also sought to honor the courageous independence activists who fought for Korea’s liberation and dreamed of a democratic republic, advocating for the return of sovereignty to the people.

The rally's participants emphasized their desire to revive the spirit of democracy, historical justice, and peace through the dismissal of President Yoon, a "traitor and warmonger." They also called for the liquidation of far-right forces, whom they accused of inciting civil war and promoting aggressive war policies.

The event was a tremendous success, drawing a large crowd. Many participants held pickets featuring the Taegukgi flag of the Korean Liberation Army and raised their voices against the pro-Japan far-rights promoted by the government.  A poignant rally moment occurred when a video of the late Gil Won-ok, a women’s rights activist, was shown. Her powerful voice echoed through the gathering, reminding everyone of the ongoing struggle for justice. The participants vowed to continue their fight to protect democracy and correct historical injustices, standing in solidarity with the legacy of the independence activists who fought for the freedom of the Korean people.
