On December 20, The Korean Council participated in the "Emergency Demonstration Against Han Duck-Soo's Veto, Accomplices of Insurrection." After gathering at Gwanghawmun, we marched in front of the Prime Minister's Office and chanted, "How could insurrection accomplice Han veto! Declare the special prosecutor for the insurrection now!" On December 19, Han Duck-Soo, the acting president, vetoed six bills, including the Grain Management Act, delaying the appointment of a constitutional court judge and special prosecutor for the insurrection and Kim Keon-Hee. Although we gathered for different reasons and agendas, the citizens have one goal: "Impeach Yoon Suk-Yeol, punish the insurgents," and restore democracy.
The Emergency Action organized the demonstration, which holds rallies every Saturday. The Emergency Action is a coalition of more than 1,500 civil organizations and labor unions, including the Korean Council. Yoon's administration has put New Rights figures in key positions, threatening historical justice with humiliating diplomacy. It ignored the constitutional court ruling regarding the "2015 Korea-Japan Agreement" and the Seoul High Court's damage claims ruling against the Japanese government. Restoring the dignity of the victims and setting historical justice straight is far away as long as people like Yoon as president.
