On December 3, at 10:29 PM, President Yoon Suk-Yeol declared an unconstitutional and illegal emergency martial law. He attempted to invade the National Assembly by mobilizing military forces and pointing his gun at the people. Fortunately, the National Assembly responded quickly, and the people united to lift the emergency martial law in about seven hours.  However, it is now clear that President Yoon Seok-Yeol cannot be entrusted with managing state affairs. Those in a position to protect the safety of the people have violated the Constitution and the law, violated democracy, endangered the country, and brought the country's prestige down to the ground.

The “anti-state forces” used as an excuse for emergency martial law are the Yoon Suk-Yeol administration itself. With a consistent policy stance of anti-human rights, anti-women, anti-democracy, anti-labor, and anti-constitutionalism, it has brought the livelihood of the people to ruin, put a gag on critical media, and pushed the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war. With his traitorous acts, denying history, historical justice has been shaken to the root, and the human rights and dignity of victims of forced mobilization and the Japanese military sexual slavery have been damaged to an irredeemable state. When the regime was cornered in the face of nationwide resistance, it resorted to the worst possible move: self-coup. It threw off the minimal cover it had put on and revealed its ugly true colors.

Yoon Suk-Yeol is no longer the president of the Korean people. He is the greatest danger to South Korea and the greatest enemy of democracy.

The people command. President Yoon Suk-Yeol must resign immediately and step down as soon as possible. The Korean Council will continue to fight to set history straight and realize democracy and justice with the people.
